Hatchday:  May 12, 2003 Release Date:  September 25, 2004 Hatch location  San Diego Wild Animal Park Sex:  Female Current Status:  unpaired Offspring:  none Current location:  Wild in Big Sur
Loner was raised using the puppet technique. She has been out in the wild with no problems since June of 2004, and is now an adult. She seems rather shy, and often sticks to the fringes of social groups. She has not yet selected a mate.

Several of the other females her age are more assertive and have shown preferences for specific male condors. She spends quite a bit of time at Pinnacles National Monument, and we hope that one of the males there will take a shine to her. Pinnacles is full of excellent breeding habitat, and Loner would be one of the oldest condors resident there if she chose to relocate. Her preference for a sedate life might be easier to fulfill away from Big Sur, which is full of older, more aggressive condors.
